Trinity Knot Necklace And Earrings Giveaway From Biddy Murphy

October 9, 2015 by Irish American Mom 55 Comments

Irish inspired jewelry is an ideal way to display our heritage. I love elegant designs inspired by traditional Celtic symbols such as the Trinity Knot or the Tree of Life.

Trinity Knot Gold Plated Jewelry Giveaway

Today, I’m delighted to host a giveaway for a trinity knot necklace with matching earrings.

This beautiful prize is just waiting to be won by one lucky reader.  Thanks to the good folk at Biddy Murphy for sponsoring this sweepstakes for Irish American Mom.

But before I share the details of how to enter, let’s learn more about this Irish gift company and explore some of the old Irish symbols and knot work that inspires today’s jewelry artists.

Biddy Murphy:

Biddy Murphy is a global online retailer for beautifully handcrafted Celtic gifts. I just love the name of this store. It’s original and ever so Irish.

The good folk at Biddy Murphy work with a variety of Irish artisans to source meaningful jewelry, clothing, and home goods that make special Irish gifts for all occasions.

The owner of the store is based in Michigan, but is a native of Tipperary. He sources his authentic Irish made gifts in Ireland and frequently visits his homeland to bring you the very best Ireland has to offer.

Into the bargain, Biddy Murphy offers free standard shipping within the United States.

Irish Symbols Inspiring Today’s Jewelry:

At Biddy Murphy they love to sell Celtic Jewelry crafted in Ireland and inspired by common Irish symbols.

Each of their pieces is accompanied by a description of the legend behind each design.  Each purchase becomes more meaningful and special when the ancient Celtic meaning of the symbol is understood and appreciated.

Here are some of my favorite symbols.

Celtic Cross:

The original Celtic crosses were crafted in stone, but these magnificent symbols are the inspiration for some of the most magnificent pendants from Ireland.

I love how this cross was originally a pagan symbol, but was adopted and adapted by early Christians, with the circle representing Christ, the center of Christianity.

Trinity Knot:

The Triquetra, more commonly known as the Trinity Knot, is a Celtic symbol of ancient origin and is associated with eternity and eternal love.  It represents interconnectedness and the unity of three parts in one.

When Christianity was introduced to Ireland, the Trinity Knot came to symbolize three persons in one God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Celtic Knot:

The Celtic knot consists of delicate twists and turns and can be found in ancient Celtic stone art.  These intricate knots illuminated manuscripts and represented the basic tenants of life, mankind, and spirituality.

Some may have been created to ward off evil spirits, and some of these beautiful knots represent the concept of eternity, eternal life, and the interconnections between all living things.

Tree of Life:

The Irish people revered trees and believed the sacred tree of life sheltered all life on earth.  The Celtic tree of life was rooted in Uisneach, the center of the Land.

According to folklore, the Celtic tree of life grew 26 miles high, provided nourishment to all the four corners of the Earth, and that it’s branches reached up into the heavens and touched every single star.  The Celtic tree of life is also a symbol of an individual’s quest for spiritual fulfillment.

The Prize:

Today’s prize is a beautiful matching gift set.  The pendant features the traditional symbol of the trinity knot, which is gold plated and boasts sparkling crystals over the entire knot.

    Mairead,
I am so excited to have won this beautiful set! I love your blog, and following you on Facebook; and Biddy Murphy has such lovely jewelry and gifts. I purchased a bracelet for one of my grandkids from Biddy last Christmas, and it was a big hit!
Seven of my eight great grandparents were born in Ireland; and my maternal grandma Veronica Giblin Heffernan was the first of her siblings to be born in the US.
I can’t wait to wear the Trinity Knot set with all my Ancestors watching over me, and all my Irish pride showing!!! ???
