To celebrate Saint Patrick's Day let's read a prayer from Ireland's patron saint.
Here is a beautiful excerpt from the Breastplate of Saint Patrick.
I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.
- From St. Patrick's Breastplate
8th century prayer

I'm really enjoying your blog Mairead, the recipes with ingredients from Kroger are wonderful! I made the Tea Brack from my mother's recipe yesterday but will try out your version next time. Thank you and keep up the good work 🙂

Happy belated St. Paddy's Mairead --my mum and I survived baking and feeding about 160 people at my public library on trifle, tea brack, fairy cakes, gingerbread, brown bread, and Irish apple tart. Needless to say all the Yankees LOVED it esp the trifle and Kerrygold butter!! The Irish tea was not so popular as it was 80 here in Ohio and the air conditioning was off. I will send you photos --
Cheers

Deirdre - It sounds like you and your Mom did an amazing job for St. Patrick's Day. I cooked shepherd's pies and Guinness beef stew for a party at our house. It was 80 degrees in Kentucky too, so my winter menu was not exactly the best for a blistering hot day. We had a great time nonetheless and celebrated St. Patrick in style with friends. All the best!
