Shamrocks are an important symbol of Ireland and a Connmeara Marble Shamrock Pendant is a wonderful way to share your Irish heritage with the world, all year long.
This year, especially for Saint Patrick's Day, Aidan from Gifts of Ireland has offered a lovely shamrock necklace for one lucky reader to win.
This lovely shamrock pendant is perfect for celebrating Saint Patrick's Day and it's valued around $45.
Before I tell you the details of how to enter for a chance to win, let's first take a look at the beautiful jewelry created in Ireland using Connemara Marble ...
Table of Contents
Jewelry Created Using Green Irish Marble
Have you ever heard of Connemara Marble before? Have you ever wondered what exactly it is? Where is this beautiful natural stone found? Well you've come to the right place for all of your answers today.
Connemara Marble is a unique and rare form of natural stone that is found in a region in the West of Ireland known as Connemara, which is also home to world famous Connemara ponies. The quarries where it is located are found in County Galway.
Let's get a little technical here now. Any geologists reading this are welcome to chime in through our comments below.
Connemara marble is a calcite stone formed when limestone gets heated under pressure. What makes the stone found in the west of Ireland so unique, is that it contains large amounts of serpentine.
Serpentine is a group of hydrous, magnesium-rich, silicate minerals. Tiny crystals of green serpentine help create the beautiful shades of green found in Connemara marble.
Each stone boasts different hues and stryations with many shades of green, just like the landscape of Ireland itself.
Each piece of stone is completely unique, with individual swirling patterns of green, gray, and brown hues.
Connemara Marble is an amazing geological treasure found only in Ireland. It truly is a symbol of Ireland and can even be called "the gemstone of Ireland."
This gorgeous stone has been quarried by hand in Connemara for centuries. The Connemara Marble company is a family owned business based in Dublin and Galway, where they own a marble quarry.
Originally opened in the 1820's, the Connemara Marble quarry is one of the oldest working marble quarries in the world. They still extract the stone with care and attention.
Then their master designers carve and polish the stones to create iconic pieces of jewelry and other beautiful gifts from Ireland.
They create timeless gifts contributing to a rich Irish cultural legacy.
Symbols of Ireland
Jewelry created by Connemara Marble features beautiful symbols of Ireland that we all have come to know and love.
The Trinity Knot is a beautiful Celtic symbol that represents our belief that there is no beginning and no end. This never ending interconnected knotwork represents unity and eternity.
The shamrock is the beloved symbol of Ireland we're featuring in our prize today, especially for Saint Patrick's Day. The three petals of the shamrock form one leaf that represents three Gods in One, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The harp is the national symbol of Ireland and features on all government documents and coins in Ireland. The designers of Connemara marble have created beautiful jewlery featuring the Irish harp.
About Gifts of Ireland
Gifts of Ireland is an Irish based company founded by a young man, Aidan from County Offaly.
He has partnered with the good folks from Connemara Marble to share their beautiful gifts in his online store.
Aidan is passionate about showcasing Irish made gifts and brands in his store. Here's what he says:
"Ireland's history is preserved not just in books and archives, but also in craft. Celtic designs preserve the millenia-old traditions of a prehistoric society, while contemporary craft reinterprets the story of Ireland today, showcasing new stories of Irish culture and of where we are heading."

The Prize
The shamrock is a beloved and iconic symbol of Ireland.
On Saint Patrick's Day we remember how Saint Patrick plucked a shamrock from the earth, to explain his belief in the Holy Trinity.
In accordance with Irish tradition, I pray that this shamrock may keep the wearer and winner safe from harm on all travels they may undertake.
This beautiful pendant is a handcarved shamrock made using only Connemara marble. The carving has a very distinctive 3-dimensional relief, and features leaf veins on each petal of the shamrock.
Here is the description from Connemara Marble:
"The pendant is presented on an 18″ sterling silver chain. Our Sterling Silver is hallmarked in the Dublin Assay office located in Dublin Castle. The shamrock measures 2 cm x 2 cm and has a weight of 4.4 grams."

The outer beauty of this piece is reason enough to wear it proudly with the added benefits of the energetic and healing properties of Connemara marble which is said to heighten our ability to connect with the elemental kingdom and Nature spirits, especially the faerie realm. It is also said to address heart chakra, promote inner wisdom and provide access to the spiritual history of earth creating a sense of peace, tranquility, and healing.
Irish American Mom
Hi Shannon - Thank you for sharing these wonderful attributes of Connemara Marble. I love to think of it as a conduit for natural spiritual energy and healing. I love Connemara Marble☘️ My parents took all eight of us kids to Ireland when I was 20 and the youngest 4 yrs. Another year I went with just my mom and I bought one of the Connemara marble rings with the marquisite shamrock in the middle. I must have hit the ring on the railing on a boat tour on Lake Superior because the shamrock was missing when we got off. Loved that ring. Such a beautiful part of Ireland, the Connemara country☘️☘️
Irish American Mom
Hi Maureen - So sorry to hear you lost the shamrock stone in your ring when you took that boat tour. Connemara is beautiful. Your parents were brave to travel to Ireland with a family of 8 children. It's lovely that this little giveaway brought back fond memories of that trip for you.

I love your blog!! I’ve spent 30 years in the public schools teaching kids that a 4 leaf clover is not a shamrock. I feel really old today because my middle son turned 55 today. His middle name is naturally Patrick! He already had a cousin named Patrick so it was taken.
Irish American Mom
Hi RoseMarie - Good to hear your son's names include Patrick since he was born on this special Irish holiday. Good to hear you taught children that in Ireland we use a three leaf shamrock as a symbol, not a four leaf clover. Happy birthday to your son and have a lovely Saint Patrick's Day.

I always loved sitting at the kitchen table and listening to my father talk about how my great great grandfather left County Clare and made his way to America. Those were magical times with all of us getting out photos we had of him and hearing about Ireland and my grandfather John leaving home because of the hard times in Ireland and making his way west to the USA. I had always wanted to get to Ireland and had the chance when I was in the military. I arrived in Shannon Ireland and loved it so much I named my daughter Shannon.
Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if my great great grandfather had decided to stay in Ireland and a warm feeling and smile comes over me.
I love IRELAND and even though I wasn't born there I will always think of it as my home.
Irish American Mom
Hi Randy - You don't have to be born in Ireland for Ireland to live in your heart. You were born in America, with deep Irish roots. Thank you for sharing your memories of your family stories about your great great grandfather. I'm glad to hear you had the chance to visit when you were in the military. Ireland is magical, but there is something truly mystical about the west coast of the island. Lovely to hear you named your daughter Shannon, espeically since the River Shannon borders County Clare, the home of your ancestors. Thanks so much for joining in our discussion about all things Irish.

Mairéad,
I could only wish that St Patrick would rid the US of snakes. I do not like those dreadful things.
I wore earrings with a bit of Connemara marble today, as I spread Irish Soda Bread and Shepherd's Pie to my neighbors. Went o my favorite pub for Jameson and ginger ale. It was a day like in Ireland, misty and rainy then back to misty.
That pendant would look nice with my earrings.
Irish American Mom
Hi Mary - I'm not too fond of snakes myself. When I lived in Florida we discovered a snake was living under our stoop. It wasn't poisonous so we left it be. Hope you had a lovely Saint Patrick's Day.
Take care,
