Step-by-step Instruction
Here's a simple overview of the steps. Full details are included in the printable instruction sheet.

Step 1: Prepare Your Pieces
Choose brown cardstock for your basket base. Use a different shade of brown paper to create the woven strips. Trace and cut out:
- Basket base
- Basket handle
- Bow
- Eggs and decorative shapes
Encourage children to pick bright spring colors for the eggs-yellows, greens, and pastels work beautifully.

Step 2: Cut the Basket Slit
Carefully cut along the slit line in the basket base. This will be where your eggs sit later.

Step 3: Begin the Weaving
Apply glue horizontally across the basket base, leaving small gaps between lines.
Place the brown paper strips across the glued areas, keeping the slit open.

Step 4: Add Vertical Strips
Now apply glue vertically and weave additional strips over and under the horizontal ones.
This is a lovely step for children to practice patterns and fine motor skills.

Step 5: Complete the Woven Look
Continue adding strips until the basket looks full and neatly woven.

Step 6: Trim the Edges
Use scissors to trim any excess paper from the sides for a tidy finish.

Step 7: Attach the Handle
Glue the handle to the top of the basket.

Step 8: Decorate the Eggs
Cut out 3-4 egg shapes and decorate them with:
- Stripes
- Dots
- Colorful paper shapes
Let little imaginations run wild here!

Step 9: Assemble Your Basket
Attach the bow to the handle.
Slide the decorated eggs into the slit in the basket and glue them in place.
And just like that, your Easter basket is complete!
