Our Irish Heritage - A Kid's Guide to the Irish Diaspora and Irish National Anthem is a new children's picture book, recently published in Ireland. This little treasure of a book celebrates Irish heritage and our Irish cultural inheritance.
Abair Linn Publishing, a small Irish Publishing Company, is based in Midleton, County Cork.
Abairlinn (pronounced as ah-ber ling) means speak to us in English. This company was founded by Irish illustrator, Lú Ó Maolmhochóir, and Rachel J. Cooper, an Irish author.
They recently published this gorgeous illustrated book for children all over the world who wish to celebrate their Irish heritage.
Table of Contents
Why are so many people of Irish descent living in the United States?
It might be a question a child or grandchild will ask. There is now a book that explains in gentle terms about the origins of the Irish diaspora. This book explains the reasons why so many left Ireland to make their home in America and explains a little of the history of Ireland, its emblems and saints.
The goal of this lovely book is to instill curiosity in children about their Irish Heritage.
“Our Irish Heritage - A Kid’s Guide to the Irish Diaspora and Irish National Anthem” is the perfect Christmas gift.
This picture book not only teaches children about Ireland and its culture, it’s also the only book that teaches the Irish National anthem. You'll find a phonetic easy-to-pronounce version of ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’ (The Soldier’s Song), together with the Irish / Gaelic and English versions.
This allows children who do not speak Irish to learn the song and be proud to sing it amongst their Irish-American family and peers. A lovely party piece.
Irish American Pride
Irish Americans have so much to be proud of, and while children of Irish descent might be aware of their Irish culture - they most likely cannot sing the Irish national anthem.
This is a keepsake gift that can be given for St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, their communion, as well as a birthday gift.
Along with teaching the National Anthem, this book contains fun historical facts and helps children of the Irish diaspora explore the significance of Irish national emblems.
Other topics covered include the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association), Irish Dancing, and the origins of Halloween to name but a few!
Children can even use a lovely map provided to pinpoint where their relatives came from.
Where to Buy Our Irish Heritage - A Kid's Guide to the Irish Diaspora and Irish National Anthem
The creators of this charming book would love if it became a household name with Irish Americans. We're very proud of our Irish diaspora and they too have Irish American relatives in the US.
These books are 100% made in Ireland and are available for purchase through Amazon.
