Instructions For Wrapping A Shamrock in Yarn
Here's a simple overview of the steps. Full details are included in the printable instruction sheet.

Step 1: Create the Craft Stick Sign
Lay seven jumbo craft sticks side by side on your work surface.
Attach one craft stick across the top and another across the bottom using a glue gun. This will hold the sign together and create a sturdy backing.
Tip: Liquid craft glue will work too, but you'll need to allow extra drying time.

Step 2: Paint the Sign
To give the craft sticks a rustic stained appearance, mix a little water with dark brown acrylic craft paint.
Brush the watered-down paint quickly across the sticks and then wipe away the excess with a paper towel. This creates a soft stained effect rather than a heavy paint finish.
If you're crafting with younger children, washable markers, crayons, or colored pencils can be used instead.

Step 3: Prepare the Shamrock
Download and print the shamrock template, then cut it out.
Trace the shape onto a piece of corrugated cardboard with a pencil and carefully cut it out with scissors.

Step 4: Attach the Yarn
Select two yarn colors. For this project, green and white yarn create a lovely textured look.
Tie the two strands together in a knot and glue the knot to the back of the cardboard shamrock.

Step 5: Wrap the Shamrock
Begin wrapping both strands of yarn around the cardboard shamrock in a random pattern.
Continue wrapping until the cardboard is completely covered. Every five or six wraps, add a small dot of glue to keep the yarn in place.
Once the shamrock is fully wrapped, tie off the yarn and secure the knot to the back with glue.

Step 6: Add the Hanging Twine
Cut a 12-inch piece of natural jute twine.
Flip the sign over and glue the ends of the twine to the upper left and right corners on the back to create a hanger.

Step 7: Attach the Shamrock
Glue the yarn wrapped shamrock to the center of the craft stick sign.
Press firmly in the middle to ensure it adheres securely.

Step 8: Finish with a Ribbon Bow
Tie a small bow using black gingham ribbon.
Cut small notches at the ends of the ribbon tails to prevent fraying, then glue the bow to the top of the sign.
Your lucky shamrock decoration is now complete!
