We Irish love to wear Celtic Cross pendants to share our Irish heritage with the world.
These emblems of Ireland and our Christian faith are found all over the island of Ireland. Many are inscribed with Celtic knotwork.
For Saint Patrick's Day this year I have a lovely Celtic Cross Necklace to share with you, courtesy of Richard from the Irish Gift Company.

Celtic Cross Necklace
This lovely necklace is perfect for celebrating your Irish heritage and it's valued at $45.
Before I tell you the details of how to enter for a chance to win, let's first take a look at the history of Celtic Crosses in Ireland and the beautiful jewelry stocked by the Irish Gift Company, a wonderful online store.

Jewelry Inspired by Our Celtic Heritage
Celtic crosses are symbols of our Christian faith and are found in cemetries all over the island of Ireland.
The Celtic Cross can be spotted in some of Ireland's most majestic places, highlighting the island's most breathtaking landscapes.
We usually think of Celtic Crosses as existing in Ireland only, but they're found all over the British Isles and even in Brittany in France, which was also a Celtic nation.
Irish immigrants to the United States and Australia have brought their love of the Celtic Cross with them. Many Irish people choose the Celtic Cross as memorials in cemetries all over the world. And many Irish people choose to wear a Celtic Cross necklace as an emblem of their heritage.

The Celtic Cross truly is a beloved symbol of Ireland, often linked to lyrical Irish blessings.
Here is a beautiful blessing from Ireland especially for this day when we celebrate our Irish heritage.
May the Raindrops Fall Lightly On Your Brow
“May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow,
May the soft winds freshen your spirit,
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you,
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.”
A Celtic Cross is a wonderful reminder that God enfolds you in the mantle of his love.
The Mission of the Irish Gift Company
The Irish Gift Company was founded by a Cork man in 2018. It's an online Irish gift shop where they fully understand the significance of Celtic and Irish symbols,
They strive to share the welcoming spirit of the Irish with their customers. They choose Irish gifts to instill a sense of friendship, sharing, and joy. They express deep pride in our Irish nationhood, while embracing the community spirit of Ireland today and yesterday.

This Island of Ireland pendant is a wonderful way to display pride in our nation and our Irish identity.
Keenly aware of the fact that people all over the world share a deep sense of connection with the island of Ireland, the good folks at the Irish Gift Company carefully curate their products to bring Ireland’s history and culture, past and present, to those who love Ireland as they do.
Browse the pages of their store and you'll find carefully chosen Celtic and Irish gifts that boast spiritual, symbolic and traditional revelvance.

The Claddagh is one of the most beloved Irish symbols. It represents love, loyalty and friendship. In this beautiful pendant it's combined with a Celtic Trinity Knot.
It is said that Saint Patrick not only used the shamrock, but also the Celtic Triquetera to convert the Irish to Christianity. The Trinity Knot was used by our patron saint to represent the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Prize
Our prize today is a Celtic Cross pendant with a traditional Celtic knotwork embossed design. The winner can choose whether to receive their pendant in a silver or gold finish.
The cross is made from highly polished stainless steel and measures 2 inches. It is presented on a 23 inch chain.
This is a perfect gift for the Irish man in your life, who is proud of his Irish heritage.
It can be worn by either men or women, but many men find the chain length and size of the pendant appealing.

Nothing fancy this year, I usually try and make something Irish or Irish/American, but unfortunately I have been traveling this week so I'll plan on trying to hit up a local pub and get a pint of Guinness and whatever they happen to have on the menu. Sláinte.
Irish American Mom
Hi Ryan - Enjoy your pint of Guinness. Hopefully you'll find an Irish pub with a good stew or shepherd's pie on the menu.

Celebrating St Patrick’s day this weekend here in New Jersey. Grown up kids comming home for family get together. Made a batch of homemade Baileys, a big tray of Shepard's pie, Irish Stew and Soda bread. I can’t tell you how often Irishamericanmon.com is my go to recipe site. All the other sites with ‘authentic’ recipies make me roll my eyes!! Have to let you know how much I appreciate what you do and how you keep it real and interesting Have a great weekend ☘️💚
Irish American Mom
Hi Ash - Thanks so much for your kind words about my recipes. I can assure you I too roll my eyes when I read some Irish recipes on the internet. Many of the people sharing Irish recipes have never set foot in Ireland, and have no idea what real Irish food is. Years ago I shared my Irish Apple Cake recipe, and at that time there was no other recipe online. Ever since, Irish apple cake has gained popularity and many food bloggers now share the recipe. They sound like authorities on the topic of Irish apple cake, but I know that my recipe is the one that inspired them. I hope you have a wonderful celebration with your family this weekend.
All the best,
Mairéad

A. It was also interesting to find out about The Trinity Knot. I have several pieces of jewelry with those. I am so thrilled to be visiting Ireland for ten days in May (4th attempt since 2020, thanks to the pandemic). Both my husband and I have been perfecting your recipes and we did a complete Irish Christmas feast for 22 last year using them.I especially enjoyed your apple cake with the authentic custard sauce. I got really good at making Irish coffee with the perfect consistency of whipping cream. Thank you so much for all you share with us. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Irish American Mom
Hi Sharon - Lovely to hear you are planning an upcoming trip to Ireland. Have a wonderful time. Lovely to hear you enjoy my Irish recipes.

Dawn
My mom - who is of German descent - made her Irish American adult kids corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and soda bread. She also made a chocolate cake for dessert. I know that corned beef and cabbage is an American tradition, but it still tasted good!
I hope you all enjoyed your St Patrick's Day!
Irish American Mom
Hi Dawn - I love corned beef and cabbage on Saint Patrick's Day. In Ireland bacon is paired with cabbage. Both meals are wonderful. Your mom's Irish menu sounds wonderful.

Since today is St. Patrick's Day, I'm wearing my green socks and shamrock pin but because it's cold I didn't take out the green shirt. My daughter celebrated much bigger with her children. All had green outfits and she hid gold play coins all over the house for them to find which they could exchange for a green sucker. There was more but this is getting long.
I enjoy your Irish blog, especially the insights to various counties, very much. Thank you.

Your Celtic cross reminds me of similar crosses my husband and I exchanged when we married in 1973, instead of rings. I lost my husband this January after 49 and 1/2 years of marriage and 53&1/2 years of living together.

Hello! I just discovered this site today and the recipes look fantastic. I always make a cottage pie, steak and Guinness pie and Potato Soup and soda bread for Saint Patrick’s Day. Also my middle daughter was an Irish Dancer for 13 years so we would spend the week dancing at schools, festivals, pubs and nursing homes, her favorite dance was the treble reel. So festive! My Grandfather was first generation American born of Irish parents from Legaginney County Cavan. Anyway- thank you for your lovely site! Be well everyone, from Boston MA.:)
