A Celtic pocket watch is a vintage gift for the Irish man in your life. In centuries past, pocket watches were an integral part of fashion for men.
For the eighth day of our Twelve Days of Christmas Irish Gift Giveaways, this ornate pocket watch will add a touch of Irish style to some man's wardrobe.
What a perfect way to carry a little piece of Ireland in your pocket.

This gift is once again brought to you by Aidan from Gifts of Ireland. This Mullingar Pewter pocket watch is a timepiece to make a statement, and demonstrate your Irish pride.
And so, without further ado, let me show you our eighth lovely prize.
(A quick tip from Mom - Take a look at the video at the top or side of this post to see the prize in more detail plus you'll hear a lovely Irish Christmas blessing at the end.)
Day 8 Prize: Mullingar Pewter Celtic Pocket Watch
Pocket watches date back all the way to the early 1500's when they were called pocket clocks. The earlier designs were worn around the neck, but in 1524 the first lightweight watch mechanism was invented to allow these watches to be carried in a pocket.
In 1675, Charles II of England popularized the fashion of carrying a small pocket watch. The style caught on all across Europe and North America.

Our prize today is made by Mullingar Pewter. We're delighted to bring you a Celtic pocket watch which has been handcrafted in the Mullingar Pewter workshop in County Westmeath.
It features a lovely Celtic Trinity Knot design on the cover.
The watch features a quartz movement and it comes in a lovely green presentation box, plus a chain to allow the wearer choose how to carry it.
These vintage timepieces are wonderful when paired with a waistcoat or jacket. Check out Aidan's tips on how to style a pocket watch.
The traditional Irish design on the cover is handcrafted in the Mullingar Pewter workshop.

At the top of this post I've shared another short video featuring this pocket watch.
You'll get a much better appreciation for the Celtic embossed design on the cover of the watch if you watch the video.
Plus I share another Irish Christmas blessing at the end of the video. We have a blessing for each day of our giveaways.

Hi Katlyn - It's always best to leave another comment if in doubt. The tool I use to pick a winner randomly, discards any multiple entries, and allows one entry per email. No need to worry about multiple comments. Good luck in this drawing.

It reminds me of the watch my grandfather in Galway had. Unfortunately it was stolen from my Mam. It use to hang in a little glass dome and was just beautiful.
Irish American Mom
Hi Cat - So sorry to hear your grandfather's watch was stolen. It's so sad to lose treasured family heirlooms that are more valuable to a family than when sold. Best of luck in our giveaway.
Take care,
Mairéad
