The Sterling Silver Claddagh Cross Pendant by Solvar pays tribute to Ireland's enduring symbol of love and loyalty, the Claddagh, and to our ancestors who created magnificent Celtic Crosses all over the island of Ireland.
To celebrate Easter I am delighted to offer this timeless Celtic gift as a prize for a little giveaway.
Once again I have teamed up with the good folks at Standun in Galway to bring you this lovely prize. Let's explore a little of the symbolism of this beautiful piece before I share the details of the giveaway.
Table of Contents
Symbolism of the Claddagh Cross
The Claddagh is an iconic symbol of Ireland with its history and meaning deeply rooted in Irish tradition. It is an emblem of true love, everlasting love.
The Claddagh, consists of two hands of friendship, cradling a heart of love, beneath a crown of loyalty.
This beautiful piece of jewelry, the pendant prize in our giveaway, combines the Claddagh symbol with another ancient emblem of Irish Christianity, the Celtic Cross.
Celtic Crosses are known the world over for their characteristic ring surrounding the central intersection.
The circle of the cross is considered a symbol of eternity and God’s infinite love. Others believe it represents Christ’s halo or the circle of life.
Some say St. Patrick created the cross to assist him in converting the pagan Irish to Christianity. By combining a traditional Latin cross with the circular, pagan, moon Goddess symbol, St. Patrick communicated his beliefs and great faith to the Irish. His new symbol underscored the power of Christ over the moon and the sun.
This sterling silver pendant features the Claddagh symbol as the eternal circle of the Celtic Cross making it a perfect emblem of never ending love, the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I chose this piece for our Easter giveaway because of its unique Irish appeal, its Christian symbolism and because it is an emblem of everlasting love.
I hope you like it as much as I do.
An Irish Blessing For Easter
And so, before I share the details of the giveaway, let me first share this lovely Irish blessing with you. This is a simple blessing, but it's the perfect blessing to accompany our Claddagh Celtic Cross at Easter.
“The light of God surround you
The love of God enfold you
The power of God protect you
The presence of God watch over you.”
~ Old Irish Blessing
My wish for whoever wins this pendant is that you will wear it with pride and cherish its Celtic legacy. And as you wear it, may you always remember that the light of Easter, and the light of God, always surround you.

My mom bought me a claddagh ring on my 16th birthday but I lost it. 🙁 I was heartbroken so on my 18th she bought me another one. When I was moving out of the house we found it between the shelves on my bookcase. So I have 2. I plan to give them to my 2 girls on their 18th birthdays.
Irish American Mom
I'm so glad you found your lost ring. Claddaghs will be perfect gifts for your girls when they turn 18.

As I've said before. I love all things Irish. I treasure my Irish Claddagh ring that my husband gave me 33 years ago.
Timm Kelly
I built my wife a very nice garden shed a few years ago and put a stone ramp in front , I had the Irish Claddagh sand blasted into the center piece stone of the ramp. Also, on a recent trip to Baltimore, we visited the Irish Railroad Museum that has a Celtic Cross on a wall that has multiple paint colors that have been revealed from the different colors used over these many years. This , along with Irish Emigrant life in the 1800's...... was the highlight of our trip.
Irish American Mom
Hi Timm - How creative to have the Irish Claddagh as the center piece on the ramp. Wonderful idea. I too visited the Irish Railroad Museum in Baltimore a few years ago. It was a lovely experience and I really enjoyed learning about Irish emigrants in Baltimore. Here's a link for a post I wrote about it...

Thank you for sharing the Old Irish Blessing. Have a wonderful Easter.
Patrick Donahue
It's so nice to have a symbol that is both strongly Christian and strongly culturally Irish to symbolize enduring love and friendship. It goes along with the old Irish blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
thank you for the old Irish blessing.
Irish American Mom
Thanks for this lovely blessing, Patrick - one of my favorites. There is such wisdom in these old Irish words.
All the best,
Mairéad

My husband and I had an Irish themed wedding 17 years ago and have Claddagh wedding bands. We renewed our vows in Ireland for our 10-year anniversary. <3
Irish American Mom
Hi Wendy - What a wonderful idea to renew your wedding vows in Ireland - so symbolic.
All the best,
Mairéad
Deirdre
I love the Claddagh - I had a ring, silver with Connemara marble that I wore until it wore out. Literally, the silver broke! I also love the harp - such a beautiful symbol with such a magnificent sound.
Earle Baldwin
I wear the Claddagh on my little finger,, a favored icon,,, but,,, my treasured icon of Eire is the pallet of green my soul carries. There is not a hue of green that is absent from an Irish wet Meadow.I am a creature of bogs and wetland. My home in New England tries heroically to amplify green, but, Ireland is the full pallet.
Irish American Mom
Beautifully said, Earle. Your words are poetically beautiful.
All the best,
Mairéad
