Irish Words of Wisdom is a wonderful gift book that truly lifts your spirits.
Written by Irish woman, Kate Hamilton, this book is inspired and dedicated to the memory of her father, Jim McEvoy, who had a saying for every situation, good and bad. Jim taught his daughter that if you don’t have faith you have nothing.

Irish Sayings of Old
Today I'm delighted to introduce Kate's book. To celebrate St. Patrick this week, Kate is offering a copy of her book as a prize for a lucky reader to win.
I'll tell you how to enter for a chance to win at the end of this post, but first let's find out what some of Kate's readers have said about this little gem of Irish wisdom.
“Through words and pictures it captures us Irish in a magical way.”
“What a joy. I didn’t just read this book - I lived it.”
“It is one of those books you know is for keeps.”
“Reading it evokes a multitude of senses. With an eye for detail on every page, this beautiful work of art is filled with thought and emotion.”
These are just some of the words used to describe this beautiful gift book compiled by Kate Hamilton, who hails from Kileavy, County Armagh.
Kate explains: “The book was inspired by my late father who had a saying for all of life's situations. The book is dedicated to his memory and teachings."
This eloquent gift-book includes 28 witty quotations, 24 inspiring poems and 20 wonderful gems of wisdom from many of Ireland’s literary and contemporary greats who have travelled the path of experience, including Maureen O’Hara, Patrick Kavanagh, Michael Flately, Brendan Grace, Clannad, Christy O’Connor and many more, all set against a backdrop of over 60 stunning photographs.
The Beauty of South Armagh
Kate is blessed to live in South Armagh, within the ring of Slieve Gullion, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
South Armagh lies within a region long associated with an ancient frontier that is as old as the earliest records of human habitation in Ireland.
It was along these roads and fields, and over these hills and mountains, that Cúchulainn and the Red Branch Knights, the O’Neills and the O’Hanlons roamed, battled and died.
Slieve Gullion’s mysterious reputation arises from its associations with myths and legends and the wider area’s rich archaeological heritage. It is alive with history, awash in scenic beauty and bursting with culture.
“It has been said of South Armagh that you can ‘kick any stone’ and it will tell a story…."
Where To Buy Irish Words of Wisdom
The book has certainly stirred emotion with reviewers who have described the little black and gold book as heart-warming, fascinating, inspiring, up-lifting and thought provoking.
When asked what she hoped to achieve by writing this book, Kate explained that she simply wanted to share the inspiration and motivation Irish people (featured in the book) have given to her and others, and to showcase these fine words against a backdrop of captivating photographs taken by imaginative photographers.
This stunning little hard-back book is certainly a gift to be treasured. You can order your copy with special gift-bag from Kate's Irish Words of Wisdom website.

I collect books of Ireland as I probably will never get to visit there. Ever since I was a child I have felt an affinity with her beauty, her music and her people. I have been known to cry when I look at my large photo books that grace my coffee table. I would be grateful to add this book to my collection. It would stand next to Anam Cara and bring me great joy!

Christine Cheripka
Since I visited Ireland in 2014 I have felt a kinship to the Irish...What a beautiful people who learned to turn rocks and rain and green grass into such a world wide heritage....The more I learn about the Irish and their beautiful country, the more I want to learn....when I was leaving Ireland 4 years ago I tried to bring a few rocks home to put in my garden, but airline security told me I wasn't allowed...(maybe they are afraid they will run short on rocks!) I would love to win the book to keep my memory of Ireland alive.
Irish American Mom

Relocated to County Cork in January last year, not far from Drombeg stone circle. I'm so thrilled and happy to be home. I have been reading your blog for many years and appreciate the effort which goes into it. Kate's book is beautifully designed, the typography and cover are top notch. Kudos to you both!
Irish American Mom
Hi Melissa - What a magnificent part of the world you now live in. The area around Glandore is spectacular. I hope to retire to that neck of the woods someday. Who knows, if I keep on blogging, I might get there a little sooner than I think. Thanks so much for following my blog. I really appreciate your support.
Best wishes,

My Irish nana always made sure we washed our ears well -“You don’t want potatoes growing in there !”

Love it, Christine. An Irish granny just has to add a little flourish to make sure you wash your ears.
Take care,

I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT I WOULD LOVE TO BE IN IRELAND. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIVE THERE, NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED, YOU ARE BLESSED!
Irish American Mom

Marion
I would enjoy this - I need to write down all the wonderful sayings of my grandmother and even my mom, both from Cavan.
Happy St. Patty's Day!
Irish American Mom
Hi Marion - You definitely need to write down all your family's sayings from Ireland and Cavan. My granny, God rest her, had so many sayings and expressions, she was hilarious to listen to. My one regret is that I never wrote them down, and now I am dependent upon my faulty memory to recall them.
Best wishes,
Mairéad
