Solvar is an Irish family run business crafting Irish jewelry since 1941. Each piece of Solvar jewelry is individually designed, with love, care and attention.
Today I'm delighted to announce we have a lovely prize for a giveaway, sponsored by the good folks at Solvar.

This magnificent jeweled shamrock pendant is perfect for celebrating Saint Patrick's Day and it's valued at 5.
Before I tell you the details of how to enter for a chance to win, let's first take a look at the beautiful jewelry produced by Solvar. Let me hand you over to Fiona from Solvar....
Jewelry Inspired by Ireland's Rich Heritage
The artisans at Solvar draw inspiration from Ireland's rich heritage and unique icons such as the Claddagh, the Celtic Knot, the Shamrock, the Harp and the Celtic Cross, to create magnificent works of art.
Our master designers have carefully crafted these icons into timeless pieces of jewelry to continue this rich cultural legacy.
We have a large network of stockists in the US and also sell online in our giftshop.
Here are some examples of the beautiful pieces designed and created by the master jewelers of Solvar.

The Claddagh ring with it's beautiful entwined hands, heart and crown are the inspiration for this gorgeous silver pendant.
This symbol of Ireland originated in the small village of the Claddagh which is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean near Galway City.
It's probably Ireland's most romantic symbol and a favorite design for wedding bands, and friendship gifts.
Celtic Knotwork
Celtic knots are intricately interwoven patterns that can symbolize the bond between people and nature, or the spiritual bond of love, or eternal life.
Celtic knots were used to decorate standing stones and were important to our Celtic ancestors.
Today they are cherished by Irish people all over the world, and are an important symbol of the link between those of Irish descent with their Irish ancestors.

About Solvar
Here's a little excerpt from the Solvar website, sharing our pride in our Irish heritage.
"We are a third-generation, family-run, Irish business combining our passion for Ireland with our love of jewelry.
We love where we are from. The Dublin of 80 years ago when the company was founded was a very different place to what it is now, but we are still here.

Dublin is full of great pubs, vibrant culture, great shops, amazing food and the best Guinness in the world. This is the city of the world-famous Trinity College, Stephen's Green, beautiful Christ Church and historic Dublin Castle, where our pieces are hallmarked.
When you buy Solvar, you are getting a little piece of Dublin, Ireland, from our family to yours.
The Prize
The shamrock is a beloved and iconic symbol of Ireland. Legend has it that Saint Patrick plucked a shamrock from the earth, to explain his belief in the Holy Trinity.
Shamrocks are worn by many who believe that they will keep them safe from harm's way.

This sterling silver Shamrock pendant is a beautiful way to share your Irish heritage and wear this iconic emblem.
The three leaves of this gorgeous shamrock are created in the shape of a heart and each leaf is surrouned by a border of cubic zirconia crystals.
Hallmarked at the Irish Assay office in Dublin Castle, this jeweled shamrock comes with an 18-inch sterling silver rolo chain.

Absolutely the Shamrock as a symbol of Ireland......I have dreamed of Ireland since I was 3 years old, when my Irish granny (McBride) played Irish songs on the piano every Sunday when she came to our house for dinner..... she always smelled so good, as wore Emeraude perfume to honor the "IEmerald Isle" and told the story of St Patrick using a Shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.
I never could play the piano, however later in life, I bought a Celtic Harp, and am learning to play. What I didn't know was the my granny had dreamed of playing the Harp as well... however I did not learn this until many years after she died. I still have the beautiful hanky she embroidered with little shamrocks, and I wear shamrock earrings, year-round, not just when St Patty's Day is near.
Irish American Mom
Hi Kathy - Thanks for sharing stories of your Irish granny and her love of music. How amazing that she longed to play the harp and you are now learning to play this beautiful Irish instrument. Lovely to hear you wear shamrocks all year round. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Your blog reminded me of my mother who in the end had 18 children (some were step-children but still!). She was the ultimate earth mother. I was the oldest and she would have us all out looking for the 'four leaf' clover for hours. We were part of the O'Neill clan through her mother's side (my grandma). Love the necklace and that it was used as a protection. I had not heard that before - loving all things Irish!
Irish American Mom
Hi Rev Leslie Ann - your mother sounds like she was a fun loving and tenacious Irish woman. What lovely memories of searching for a lucky four leaf clover with her. So glad you like this necklace and symbol of protection. Thanks for stopping by this week.

The shamrock means a great deal more to me after learning it was St Patrickโs way of illustrating his belief in the Holy Trinity โ๏ธ
Irish American Mom
Hi Donna - The shamrock is precious to Irish people - we love the story of how Saint Patrick used it to teach the Irish about the Holy Trinity. Irish people much rather three leaf shamrocks than four leaf clovers to represent this special day. Thanks for stopping by.
All the best,
Mairรฉad

Geraldine McGovern
Growing up in Northern Ireland, I remember we all wore Shamrock, and being very proud of that wee piece of green pinned onto our coats as we stepped out, usually in the rain, to go to Mass! Even after I moved to this country, my mom would send me Shamrock in the mail for years. I think I was the only person in San Francisco who had a real shamrock! Now, that I don't get the real shamrock from home, that necklace would certainly replace it. It is beautiful. I hope I have the luck of the Irish this time.โ๏ธ
Thank you and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
P.S. Maybe, sometime when you have a chance, you could post a little note about how it is called PADDY'S Day and not Patty's Day! That really gets our Irish up!
Irish American Mom
Hi Geraldine - I think lots of shamrock was sent from Ireland to the US in years gone by. It must have been lovely to receive your real shamrock when you were so far from home. Thanks for sharing your memories of Saint Patrick's Day in Ireland. I like your suggestion for a blog post. It definitely is St. Paddy not St. Patty. Thanks so much for following my recipes and ramblings.
