Celtic Cross Necklace
This lovely necklace is perfect for celebrating your Irish heritage and it's valued at $70.
Before I tell you the details of how to enter for a chance to win, let's first take a look at the history of Celtic Crosses in Ireland and the beautiful jewelry to be found in the Gifts of Ireland online store.
Jewelry Inspired by Ireland's Rich Heritage
Celtic crosses are found spread all across the islands of Ireland and Britain. It's a symbol of our Christian faith and found in cemetries in all four corners of Ireland.
The Celtic Cross can be spotted in some of Ireland's most majestic places, highlighting some of the island's most breathtaking landscapes.
We usually think of the Celtic Cross as being a uniquely Irish symbol, but they're found all over the British Isles and even in Brittany in France, which was also a Celtic nation.

In a previous post I shared some lovely images of these Celtic Crosses for Easter, together with some lovely Irish sayings and blessings for Easter.
Here's my favorite saying from this collection:
"You are the peace of all things calm,
You are the place to hide from harm.
You are the light that shines in dark,
You are the heart's eternal spark.
You are the door that's open wide,
You are the guest who waits inside.
You are the light, the truth, the way,
You are my Savior this very day."
~ Celtic Blessing From The First Millennium
Celtic Knotwork
Celtic knots are intricately interwoven patterns found inscribed on standing stones and Celtic crosses in Ireland.
This artistic knotwork holds important spiritual meaning and symbolizes the deep bonds that exist between people and nature, plust the neverending and interconnected bonds of love and eternal life.
The important thing to note about Celtic knots is that they are not truly single standing knots, but are complete loops that have no start or finish.
This is why they are said to represent eternity with no beginning or end, and this idea can be applied to mean loyalty, faith, friendship and love, which are also associated with the Claddagh ring.
When you draw a Celtic knot it is important to start a a specific point and eventually return to this starting point - no beginning, and no end, just how life and eternity are interconnected. Our Celtic ancestors were deep thinkers for sure.

The Circle of a Celtic Cross
The center ring of the Celtic Cross is what makes it truly eye catching.
It is a representation for infinite love, with no beginning and no end. It not only represents human love, but is also a symbol of God's endless love. It is also said to be a representation of Christ's halo.
Legend has it that Saint Patrick used the Celtic affinity for circular patterns to combine the Christian cross with the Celtic symbol of the sun. And as we all know, his intuition worked - the Irish became a Christian nation under his direction and tutelage.

Hi I'm Sally - I am an American Irish women. The answer to your question is a. And I know you didn't need me to answer that as I am an American. I do wear a Celtic cross. It's not made in the quality of the one in your post. I also believe that the answer to your question is a no also. Because the Celtic cross symbolizes nature combined with Christ. It repersents an atonement of sorts. It's a relic that is beautiful and shows our faith an love for nature and Christ. Especially on Easter day today. Thank you for introducing me to the shop.

Hi,
HAPPY EASTER from N.Y.C., USA!!! I'm a first generation American of Irish descent. Born in N.Y.C. to parents from Limerick & Tipperary, who actually met here, in America. My Mom's family motto is, "With God as your army, it matters little who is against you." I consider that as an old Irish saying.
The Cross is lovely. Keep up the good work; I enjoy your writings.
Kindest regards,

I am a bit late fr the drawing but I just want to post a comment and say whoever is lucky enough to win this beautiful Celtic cross is indeed very fortunate
Mairead I hope it’s okay to mention my youngest brother here . He died at age 60 two years ago of ALS, as they call it MND in Ireland . His battle lasted only six months . He was a Jeweller in co Kildare , he made most of his own jewellery by hand , mostly Celtic . He loved his work so much that he went from being diagnosed at the hospital straight to his shop to continue creating .He did this untill is hands stopped working and within days of leaving his shop he was in Hospice at st Brigids in Kildare. He was so talentedAnd created so many beautiful Celtic pieces many people have his wonderful creations to keep forever. Damian leaves a huge void in so any lives ☘️Just wanted to share if this breaks any rules please delete it. Thank you
Irish American Mom
Hi Mary - You're on time for this drawing, so you'll be in with a chance to win. Thank you for sharing your brother's story and wonderful legacy with us here. So sorry to hear of your great loss. ALS is such a heart breaking disease. My aunt died of ALS about 20 years ago. She was a nun in Andover, Massachussetts. The disease primarily affected the muscles of her respiratory system and swallowing. She loved to paint, so it was good that she did not lose the function of her hands until near the end. It's lovely to hear that your brother was able to continue to create for some time after his diagnosis. It's wonderful to think of his legacy being carried on by the many people who now own and wear his work. When we choose custom made jewelry, I believe we connect with the artist who created the piece. Their energy and spiritual inspiration is passed on to us to treasure and preserve. Damian lives on through his work. Thanks again for sharing your family story, and how your talented brother created Celtic designed jewelry for years. Thinking of you and your family.
All the best,
Mairéad
Mary
Thank you so much Mairead ! How sad ALS touched your family too . Thank you for reading about Damian , God Bless and Happy Easter 🐣💐
Irish American Mom
Hi again Mary - I have worked with many patients with ALS over my 30 years as a physical therpaist. I specialize in neurological rehabilition. When I worked in Dallas I helped set up an ALS clinici to help patients with ongoing supports. It is such rewarding work.
Have a wonderful day.

This Easter I spent my first Easter Sunday without any family around.
I thought a lot about my Irish Mother and her 9 siblings - 3 are still 'with us' as Gran would say . Sobering to know I'm now the older generation;) of the Family . Family is important. I plan on visiting Ireland to see where my Grandparents were born :)☘️

Seeing the high crosses at Monasterboice was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland in 2019. There’s a lovely Celtic cross where I Iive in Santa Barbara. Atop an ocean bluff, it marks the grave of a former British officer who purchased land and built a home there in the early 1900s. The house is long gone, but the beautiful cross still stands.
Irish American Mom
Hi Sally - Monasterboice is such a quiet and inspirational place, and the High Crosses there are well worth seeing. Lovely to hear you got to visit this spot and that it was a highlight of your trip to Ireland. Thank you for sharing the story of the Celtic Cross which is standing the test of time in Santa Barbara. Happy Easter! I have always liked the Celtic Cross, but fell in love with them after sunset, in a small cemetery in Clare. I was a bit down a hill, looking up at headstones, most were Celtic Crosses, against a darkening sky. I felt I was caught between two worlds for a few moments.
Thank you!
Irish American Mom
Hi Patti - It sounds like you had an amazing experience in that cemetery in County Clare. My ancestors are buried in a graveyard beside the Atlantic ocean in West Cork, and there are Celtic Crosses there too. At sunset there is a spiritual peace that comes over the place that cannot be described. I fully understand your mystical experience.
All the best,
Mairéad
