Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such loyal readers and for sharing your heartfelt, warm and often poignant comments. Your love for Ireland and your Irish heritage is truly a joy to share, and warms my heart.

This year I would like to celebrate the holidays with you in good old Celtic style with a series of Irish gift giveaways. Together with Aidan from Gifts of Ireland, I'll showcase some lovely Irish prizes. All boast an Irish or Celtic theme and celebrate our culture and heritage.
This is my way of saying THANK YOU to you for choosing to be part of this little Irish American community.
And so, without further ado, let me show you our first lovely prize.
(A quick tip from Mom - Take a look at the video at the top or side of this post to see the prize in more detail)
Day 1 Prize: Rynhart Bronze Christmas Tree
Christmas trees will be going up this weekend, and to kick off the holiday season I chose this lovely Bronze Christmas Tree made by Rynhart Studios in County Cork.
This lovely framed piece is handmade in Ireland. It would look lovely hanging on your wall for Christmas or resting on your mantelpiece beside the fire.
The tree is decorated with beautiful Celtic scrolls and knotwork. This is a truly authentic piece of Irish home decor especially for Christmas.
This lovely piece of art was created in Glengarriff in West Cork along the Wild Atlantic Way by Rynhart Studios. Founded by Jeanne Rynhart in 1981, her most famous work is the Molly Malone bronze statue situated in Dublin.

Dear Old Molly Malone is one of the most beloved and visited statues in Ireland for both tourists and Irish people alike. A trip to Dublin is not complete unless you take a visit to see Molly.
Jeanne's daughter Audrey and her husband Les Elliot now run the art studio. They create stunning pieces that are lovlingly rendered with deep connections to Irish and Celtic culture.
We can see this in today's Christmas Tree prize, where the tree is created with interwoven Celtic knotwork.
The Irish word for Christmas tree is
Crann na Nollag
It is proununced phonetically like this - kron nah null-ag.

Hi Mairéad! Thanks so much for the Christmas giveaway! I also loved the Molly Malone statue when I was in Dublin in 2019! It was the first place we visited in Ireland, right after our flight we went ot O'neill's pub across the street for a Fry up. My husband's mother is an O'Neill (but not a direct relation of the pub owner, of course! ) My goodness, do I miss travel!
I'm in Canada and the correct answer is A.
Irish American Mom
Hi Lisa - Lovely to hear you got to visit Dublin in 2019. An Irish fry up is so delicious after flying into Dublin. I think jet lag makes it taste even better - good to hear you found a good spot to enjoy your fry and visited Molly Malone on the way. Thanks for joining our giveaway. I've added a question to these giveaways for Canadian readers, so that you can enter too, and we can all stay legal. Thanks for answering.
All the best,
Mairéad

I enjoyed the history you shared on the beautiful Celtic scrolls and knotwork piece. The ornament I hang on my tree is a beautiful glass ball with a traditional Irish Blessing and a harp - the symbol of Ireland. The blessing says: "May Joy and Peace surround you, Contentment latch your door, And may happiness be with you now, And bless you evermore."
Irish American Mom
Hi Kathy - I love that old Irish Christmas blessing. It's perfect for a Christmas ornament for your tree. Thanks for checking out the video where we share the background to the piece - I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for supporting this little giveaway.
All the best,

Lovely Irish made Christmas tree ornament! Such prestige coming from that studio! I have seen the Molly Malone bronze when visiting Dublin.
Irish American Mom
Hi Glenda - Nice to hear you've had the chance to visit Dublin's Molly Malone. When the statue was moved from outside Trinity College at the end of Grafton Street I felt sad. But to tell you the truth she's in a much better place now. There's far more space for tourists to snap some photos.
All the best,

Julie Mongeon
What a lovely Celtic knot tree and that the artist is from Cork makes it even more special as my Dad, God rest his soul, was from Nenagh. One ornament we have on our tree is a small Belleek Blarney castle that we got on our first trip to Ireland when Dad took us back home to see where he grew up. Is was a wonderful trip all around Ireland that I’ll never forget. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope that your turnips today were as tasty as ours!!
Julie (Warren) Mongeon
Irish American Mom
Hi Julie - Your Belleek Blarney Castle is a beautiful family treasure, wrapped up in warm memories of your father, and your trip to Ireland with him. What an amazing experience, to travel back to your father's homeland for a grand tour. So glad you too are a turnip lover and serve them at Thanksgiving.
Best wishes,

My husband who is from Dublin,Ireland met about 10/years ago in online poker. After a long distance relationship we finally got married 7 years ago. My favorite ornaments are a stack of poker chips and a green Irish post box for the countless letters, cards and gifts we sent back and forth. Xx
Irish American Mom
Hi Jenny - Thanks for sharing your story of how you met your husband from Dublin. I smiled when I read your story - it's the first time I've ever heard of a couple meeting over online poker. So wonderful! I love your story about your little green post box ornament. It's so symbolic for you, thinking of all those letters and cards that passed between you before you married. That made me smile.
Thanks for stopping by.
Best wishes,
Mairéad

My Irish heritage comes from my mom, who is no longer with us. As a reminder of her I am doing a tree in nothing but Irish ornaments. Even if I have to make them. Moist of the stiff that I have decorating my house are Irish themed. Some padded down from her parent's.

Sue P
I start Christmas early by celebrating the Feast day of St. Nicholas on December 6th, I have had my nieces and nephews set out their shoes the night before, since the first niece was born in 1983. I knew as an Aunt i could never compete with Santa on the 25th. It has been a fun tradition.
Irish American Mom
Hi Sue - How clever of you to harness the spirit of Saint Nicholas on December 6th, rather than competing with Santa Claus at the end of the month. What an amazing family tradition. In years gone by in Ireland, Christmas got started on December 8th. In recent years, Black Friday has been brought to Ireland, so Christmas starts a little earlier, just like in America. I like the timing of your family Christmas event in honor of Saint Nicholas.
Thanks for supporting our little giveaway.
Best wishes,
Mairéad
Babs
When he was about 5, my youngest son glued popsicle sticks together in the shape of a star, then painted the star with glue and covered it in glitter. He carefully wrapped it in Christmas paper and tucked it under the tree with my name on it. He was so happy and proud of himself to be able to give me a gift! I lovingly hang it on my Christmas tree every year.
Irish American Mom
Hi Babs - What a beautiful story and how kind and generous of your son to make you an ornament. It's the ornaments with a story and that are made with love, that are always the best.
Thanks for joining our Christmas giveaway spree.
All the best,

Barbara Quinlan
Crann na Nollaig - I am living in US but have plenty of Gailge as I have only been here since 2014. I love opening up the decorations from past years to hang on the tree. I have many from Newbridge Silver and love each of them and Tipperary crystal too. The ones made by my kids at pre-school in Ireland and a few we have picked up on visits home as "somewhat useful" mementos of our visits- e.g. Titanic Museum bauble. It is a great time to remember trips we have taken too.
Irish American Mom
Hi Barbara - I too love opening up the decorations from previous years. For the first 10 years of my children's lives I added a photo decoration for each of them each and every year. I love putting them on the tree and watching how my kids grew and changed with the passing of time. I get so nostalgic looking at them. I love the idea of picking up Christmas decorations to help remember family trips. How wonderful. Lovely to know you still have plenty of Irish. My Irish was learned from my mother, so she taught me Munster Irish. There we say Nollaig for Christmas, but Mí na Nollag for the month of December. It could be different in other parts of the country. I'm definitely no expert, and could be wrong for sure.
Thanks for joining in our giveaway fun, and do come back to check out all the lovely prizes over the coming days.
All the best,
Mairéad
Judi

The Bronze Christmas Tree is a beautiful piece of artwork! I love the history of the company, too!
My favorite Irish ornament is a snowman I bought at a Irish festival here in the states. I have two prized ornaments, one is a bell my in-laws gave to us when we got married in 1979, and the second is a little felt mouse sleeping in a walnut shell I bought in Rockport, Maine in 1975, while going home for Thanksgiving with my roommate from college who lived north of Boston.
Happy Holidays!
Irish American Mom
Hi Janine - Your Christmas ornaments sound lovely - wonderful family treasures with stories to tell. So glad you like this Celtic Christmas tree.
Many thanks for stopping by.
